Green River Distillery Re-Launches Flagship Bourbon This Week

Everything old is new again as Green River Distilling Co. launched its flagship Green River Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey this week after more than a 100-year hiatus. The Owensboro, Kentucky distillery was originally founded in 1885 and was brought back in September 2020. The distiller says it “endured fire, Prohibition, multiple owners, and a period of decline to reemerge today.”

“For the first time in more than 100 years, Green River bourbon is flowing inside the walls of its original home,” said Master Distiller Jacob Call. “As someone with a family connection to the first days of Kentucky bourbon, being a part of the revival of such a legendary whiskey has been the opportunity of a lifetime.” Call is an eighth-generation distiller and Kentuckian.

The five-year-old, 90-proof bourdon is made with a mash bill of 70% corn, 21% winter rye, and 9% malted 2 and 6-row barley. Green River Bourbon is available for sale at the distillery beginning today for $36.00. It will soon be available in Tennessee, Missouri, Indiana, and Northwest Florida and distribution will grow from there.

Bardstown Bourbon Company and Founders Brewing Team Up for New Bourbon Release

Our friends at Bardstown Bourbon Company are back this week with another round of their acclaimed Collaborative series. This time they’re bringing bourbon and beer together using 10-year-old Tennessee bourbon that’s finished in Founders Brewing KBS stout barrels for 15 months.

“The robust profile is a direct result of the care and coordination in shipping these flavorful barrels. The day they are emptied in Grand Rapids, they are filled with bourbon in Bardstown. The rich waves of chocolate malt from KBS carry through the entire aging process and balance beautifully with classic bourbon,” said Dan Callaway VP of Product Development and Master Blender.

The 110-proof bourbon will retail for $159.99 beginning this week wherever Bardstown Bourbon Company products are sold.
