Learning about the rich history of bourbon in Kentucky adds another layer of flavor to the overall experience for many bourbon enthusiasts. If you’re one of them, take note of the four-part Bourbon History Series that starts this week sponsored by Kentucky Artisan Distillery, Oldham County Historical Society, and Tour Oldham County KY. Part One will take a look at Moonshining and Modern Distilling on Thursday, January 30 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the distillery in Crestwood.
The evening includes a presentation by Steve Thompson, President of Kentucky Artisan Distillery (KAD), bourbon tastings, appetizers by Chateau Bourbon and a distillery tour.
Tickets are $35 per person (per event) and are limited. Reserve your spot by calling the Oldham Country History Center at 502-222-0826.
The next three Thursday night bourbon history events are:
April 23 Bourbon as an Art Form (held at the Oldham County History Center)
Aug. 27 Bourbon on the Ohio River (held at KAD)
Nov. 12 Prohibition and Bootlegging in Oldham County (held at KAD)
Kentucky Artisan Distillery bills itself as, “truly as close as a production facility in the 21st century can get to how bourbon was made 200 years ago.” KAD is a member of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail Craft Tour. The KDA website says it “is a contract distillery, serving as the home to several different brands, the most well-known being Jefferson’s Reserve Bourbon.”
